Refined Apparel

Welcome to my last independent study action project, here at GCE. This action project, it is a continuation of my last independent study from the last term , so go check that out for more background information. For this unit, I wanted to focus on actually creating and finalizing the designs as well as print out the merchandise. This independent study meant a lot to me because I actually brought what I was creating to life! I was finally able to see what Refined Apparel started to look like in person. Through this experience, it was new but a lot of fun. I had the opportunity to learn how to make clothing while on a time crunch. Even though this was a challenge, I'm excited to continue and launch the shop this summer. I didn't have this opportunity if it wasn't for GCE. At GCE I have done several different independent studies and it has truly taught me where I am able to go what I am able to do. GCE has granted me the privilege to continue bringing my dreams into the real ...

Working on Refined Apparel for 12 Hours

Image
Hello and welcome to my second action project for my class, Endurance! For this course we have been learning about what endurance means and how can we are able to apply this skill to our lives. For this action project we dedicated twelve hours of our time on something that we care about. I decided to utilize this time to continue to work on my Christian clothing brand that I have been working on for a while now. I decided to dedicate twelve hours to actually print out the designs that are in my first collection to prepare for the clothing brand's launch date, June 4th. I developed and a created a vlog that captured my journey throughout this whole experience. Throughout this process, I had to leave to the store, do some budgeting, manage my time wisely, communicate with others, and reach my goal to bring Refined Apparel's mission to life! While going through this journey I kept thinking back to our discussions in class. Throughout this course, we read the book, Night by Elie W...

Starting Refined Apparel

Welcome to my action project for my winter independent study! For this independent study, I decided to pursue an idea of mine that I have been wanting to bring to life in the summer of 2020. For this independent study, I chose to create a Christian clothing brand called, Refined Apparel. My faith is super important to me and is something that I have battled and struggled with, but 2020 opened my eyes to so many things and I found myself growing my relationship with God! I am in love with designing, art, and fashion so I decided why not collide the two and spread the glory of God to others. Throughout this independent study, I have been designing the first collection of Refined Apparel and really dived deeper into what this clothing brand actually means. For more information about the process of starting up this business, read down below. I hope you enjoy it!

Launching R O M A N A R T

Image
Hello and welcome to the first independent study for my senior year! For this term, I wanted to finally launch my website on my Instagram and take further steps to finalize this huge project! Throughout this journey, I was able to learn and adapt to new things such as posting continuously on social media, designing, setting up my own website, and launching a giveaway. This has been something that I am super passionate and excited about ever since my junior year. If you want to, check out my more in-depth process of creating everything on my previous blog about each step I took getting here! Here is a montage of my journey and a little bit of what the behind-the-scenes of this term looked like. I hope you enjoy it! When first going through this process of creating R O M A N A R T I wanted to carry consistency within social media. I use social media as my source of connection with viewers so I wanted to make sure that I was using it to the best of my ability. I laid out a plan for me ...

Snapshots of my Art Business - Final Presentations

R O M A N A R T

Image
For this independent study, I was able to spend some time on something that I’ve been wanting to do for the longest time, which is being able to finally sell my art. My first goal was to be able to share my art and work as a young artist, which is what I would usually see artists do a lot on social media, online shops, etc. But as I was able to finally start with an art shop business. I wanted it not to be only me just selling my artwork. When going into this I hadn’t even thought about that aspect, and opinions on doing something like this. That’s why I wanted to create, R O M A N A R T. By creating my own brand, I don’t just want to be able to sell my work on various amounts of merchandise, but I want to be able to create a community and relationships through this outlet that I am creating. I want to be able to share my work that will inspire creators of all ages to start creating! I personally consider the word creator as a totally diverse and universal term that everyone has the ...

Final Presentation - How Do Brands Use Social Media?

For this Final Presentation I chose to talk about my independent study where I created my own business. Throughout final presentation, I focused on the question: How do I create a business where I can sell my art on products? I have been wanting to create my own brand/online shop to sell my art on different types of merchandise. Through this time I really only focused on designing and creating, and unfortunately, didn’t really get to the marketing/advertising aspect of it. Which, is another reason why I want to know how brands REALLY use social media to be able to definitely use this as a source for next term to continue to grow my business.

The Start of Romanart!

Throughout this term, I focused on the question: How do I create a business where I can sell my art on products? I have been wanting to create my own brand/online shop to sell my art on different types of merchandise. Such as shirts, posters, stickers, etc. Initially, this was a chance to create my online shop and sell my art consistently, but it turned out to be successful in the terms of creating all of the products and designs. During this time it was more of trying to get the materials that I needed and invest in them to sell/market. I started out with different design ideas that were a potential final draft as one of my designs for my products, while creating them at the same time I had to choose and kind of simplify my ideas as well. I used this time at school to make sure all of the designs I wanted were completed and polished, and I researched the best places to get them made into different types of products. I made connections, asked questions, and also investigated the diff...

Don't Lose Focus

This term, I decided to explore photography to demonstrate expression by doing portrait photography. Before choosing my independent study, I was contemplating if I should continue photography or do something a bit different like surreal face painting. While contemplating my options, I thought it would be a good idea to do surreal face painting, and take it a step further with professionally documenting my work by taking photos. My goal throughout this independent study was to improve the way I shoot and become more comfortable with snapping pictures and editing them. Additionally, I wanted to learn some skills and techniques when it came to face painting. Instead of using a regular canvas I wanted to see what it would be like to use the face as one instead and to become familiar with face painting in a different sense. I was really excited to learn new things about these two different kinds of art, but I was also excited about reaching out and working with people I know and new people ...

Independent Study

In this independent study, I chose to grasp my focus on different art professions that I was interested in. I decided to this because I have always loved art, and want to choose one of these professions as a career. As I have gotten older I noticed that I don’t exactly know about the different art careers that are out there, so that is what I have been doing for this independent study. At first, I started to take a look at different careers that involve art to get a better understanding of what I am actually into, and what I want to focus on. Throughout this independent study, my goal was to pick a profession that I wanted to focus on since I didn’t really know what I was specifically interested in. My plan was that when I picked the professions I wanted I would speak to different people who are in that field. Throughout, this independent study it was actually very difficult to find working artists who were willing to speak to me about what they do. As I started to take a look at ...
