Throughout this term, I focused on the question: How do I create a business where I can sell my art on products? I have been wanting to create my own brand/online shop to sell my art on different types of merchandise. Such as shirts, posters, stickers, etc. Initially, this was a chance to create my online shop and sell my art consistently, but it turned out to be successful in the terms of creating all of the products and designs. During this time it was more of trying to get the materials that I needed and invest in them to sell/market. I started out with different design ideas that were a potential final draft as one of my designs for my products, while creating them at the same time I had to choose and kind of simplify my ideas as well. I used this time at school to make sure all of the designs I wanted were completed and polished, and I researched the best places to get them made into different types of products. I made connections, asked questions, and also investigated the different costs of each merchandise.

Even though I wasn’t able to learn more of the business and marketing aspect of creating a brand/business I was definitely able to get what I needed and invest time and work to start a business. At the end of this, I got my etsy page started, my instagram shop started, and created a promo video/photoshoot. By creating my promo video I was able to at least use that for advertisement and get a head on that. The same thing applies for my photoshoot. I was fortunate and lucky enough to have great models that volunteered to make my vision come to life, and model the shirts that I created. It was crazy to see it actually on others with different styles and faces wearing them. I am very excited and very lucky to have had this opportunity to grow myself as an individual and to also grow myself as an artist. I’m definitely going to continue this in my future, continue this next and learn how to really advertise, produce more, and hopefully create an official business/job for myself.
In this unit of stories, we have been talking about fables. In class, we have been talking about Aesop fable and Panchatantra fables. While reading these two different types of fables we were looking at the characteristics of the fables; such as personification, symbolism, and character development. We were discussing what exactly makes up a story, how do you develop a character, and how can we use a story to teach a lesson. For the action project, for this unit, we had to create our own fable. Over this unit, I have learned about the importance of them and how different they can be depending on where they come from and cultural traditions some people have that incorporate that into the fables. I decided to make my fable about working hard and not letting anything get in the way the reason I chose this value is because I believe that if someone works hard enough they are capable of anything. Welcome to my last independent study action project, here at GCE. This action project, it is a continuation of my last independent study from the last term , so go check that out for more background information. For this unit, I wanted to focus on actually creating and finalizing the designs as well as print out the merchandise. This independent study meant a lot to me because I actually brought what I was creating to life! I was finally able to see what Refined Apparel started to look like in person. Through this experience, it was new but a lot of fun. I had the opportunity to learn how to make clothing while on a time crunch. Even though this was a challenge, I'm excited to continue and launch the shop this summer. I didn't have this opportunity if it wasn't for GCE. At GCE I have done several different independent studies and it has truly taught me where I am able to go what I am able to do. GCE has granted me the privilege to continue bringing my dreams into the real
This is my Action Project for my class called, Light, Sound, and Time. In this class, we conducted a lot of activities to understand the connection between the three elements: Light, Sound, and Time. For this unit, we only focused on sound and how it travels to our ears along with, speed, pitch, wavelength, frequency, etc. For this unit, we had a field experience to The Chicago Hearing Society where we were able to speak to people who have trouble hearing or can't hear at all and use what we learned in our first class, empathy. It was an interesting way to get a different perspective on sound and how it affects someone's life. So for this action project, we put all the elements that we have learned throughout this unit and make a diddley bow. Similarly, to the pinhole cameras, we made to study light. For this action project, I found it super fun and also challenging at the same time. It was my first time making a diddley bow, which looks simple but also hard to make.
