For this Final Presentation I chose to talk about my independent study where I created my own business. Throughout final presentation, I focused on the question: How do I create a business where I can sell my art on products? I have been wanting to create my own brand/online shop to sell my art on different types of merchandise. Through this time I really only focused on designing and creating, and unfortunately, didn’t really get to the marketing/advertising aspect of it. Which, is another reason why I want to know how brands REALLY use social media to be able to definitely use this as a source for next term to continue to grow my business.

Throughout this term, I focused on the question: How do I create a business where I can sell my art on products? I have been wanting to create my own brand/online shop to sell my art on different types of merchandise. Such as shirts, posters, stickers, etc. Initially, this was a chance to create my online shop and sell my art consistently, but it turned out to be successful in the terms of creating all of the products and designs. During this time it was more of trying to get the materials that I needed and invest in them to sell/market. I started out with different design ideas that were a potential final draft as one of my designs for my products, while creating them at the same time I had to choose and kind of simplify my ideas as well. I used this time at school to make sure all of the designs I wanted were completed and polished, and I researched the best places to get them made into different types of products. In this independent study, I chose to grasp my focus on different art professions that I was interested in. I decided to this because I have always loved art, and want to choose one of these professions as a career. As I have gotten older I noticed that I don’t exactly know about the different art careers that are out there, so that is what I have been doing for this independent study. At first, I started to take a look at different careers that involve art to get a better understanding of what I am actually into, and what I want to focus on. Throughout this independent study, my goal was to pick a profession that I wanted to focus on since I didn’t really know what I was specifically interested in. My plan was that when I picked the professions I wanted I would speak to different people who are in that field. In our second unit of Forbidden Book, we were studying diversity, and how it's implanted into books. Throughout this unit, we took a look at the different meanings a book has. For this action project, we chose a banned book that we wanted to read. We had to read and analyze the book to understand the reasons why this book was banned, and who exactly banned the book. I chose to read the book Of Mice and Men which is a book written by John Steinbeck in 1937. This book is about two men migrating from Alabama to California to work on a ranch in 1937 during the Great Depression.        CC.OFMICEANDMEN.2019

In our first unit of Forbidden Books, we have been learning about what censorship is and the process of banning books and censoring certain contents in the world. Over this unit, we explored what censorship really meant, why we have censorship, and we even questioned what we thought about censorship is it actually good or bad to have it? We then transitioned to what a Socratic dialogue is, and the history behind its formation. We also started reading, Fahrenheit 451. This book is about a world where books are banned across the country, and whoever is found with a book at their homes has their home burned down. The book revolves around the main character who is actually a fireman (who has the job of burning books). We thought this book was effective because it gave us a fictional understanding/metaphor of the way books are perceived in different perspectives.
