For the second to last unit of our class, A Nation's Argument, we have been looking into the Bill of Rights and the ratification in it. In the unit, we were able to gain a better understanding of the US Consitution and the fifteenth Amendments. With this investigation, we were able to get way deeper into this topic by watching the documentary, 13. This documentary was focused on the 13th Amendment, which states, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." We then continued to look and start thinking about American citizens and the rights that are given coming into America, and how these rights apply to immigrants. Throughout this term of Rhetoric, we have continued to learn and conduct a search about what it means to be rhetorical. This term really focused on the art of rhetorical and what can be demonstrated through art. Through this process, we did some research about different artists, and we had to analyze the rhetorical that we found within the pieces. For this action project, we had to create our own individual piece that tackles some type of global and current issue. When creating this piece we had to make sure that we include the concepts of pathos, ethos, and logos along with rhetorical devices. This term, I decided to explore photography to demonstrate expression by doing portrait photography. Before choosing my independent study, I was contemplating if I should continue photography or do something a bit different like surreal face painting. While contemplating my options, I thought it would be a good idea to do surreal face painting, and take it a step further with professionally documenting my work by taking photos. My goal throughout this independent study was to improve the way I shoot and become more comfortable with snapping pictures and editing them. Additionally, I wanted to learn some skills and techniques when it came to face painting. Instead of using a regular canvas I wanted to see what it would be like to use the face as one instead and to become familiar with face painting in a different sense. In this independent study, I chose to grasp my focus on different art professions that I was interested in. I decided to this because I have always loved art, and want to choose one of these professions as a career. As I have gotten older I noticed that I don’t exactly know about the different art careers that are out there, so that is what I have been doing for this independent study. At first, I started to take a look at different careers that involve art to get a better understanding of what I am actually into, and what I want to focus on. Throughout this independent study, my goal was to pick a profession that I wanted to focus on since I didn’t really know what I was specifically interested in. In our second unit of Forbidden Book, we were studying diversity, and how it's implanted into books. Throughout this unit, we took a look at the different meanings a book has. For this action project, we chose a banned book that we wanted to read. We had to read and analyze the book to understand the reasons why this book was banned, and who exactly banned the book. I chose to read the book Of Mice and Men which is a book written by John Steinbeck in 1937. For this elective term, I chose to take the class called Global Peace. In this class, we are able to talk about ways we are able to use ourselves to make a change for things that we are passionate about. In class, we have talked about activism and the roles it takes to be an activist. We have been talking about different methods known as the Gandhian principles we can use with activism such as Sarvodaya, Swaraj, and Satyagraha. Sharp's Methods are basically more than 190 ways to protest with non-violence actions. Sharp's Method is a very resourceful way to take action without causing harm. Many people use these methods without even realizing it. For this action project, we had to choose an activist to learn about. For our last unit we are focusing on birth. In class we have been talking about the different components food has and what it's made of. We also watched a documentary called "Food inc." The reason why we decided to watch the documentary because we wanted to see how our food is actually handled with. I can say this opened our eyes and we were able to see how farmer, animals, and food is treated. In this unit in Who Am I? We are talking about Doubt and Dream. We were discussing about Freudian theories and Doubts we might have about our beliefs and doubts we might have about our life. I believe that this unit we were able to figure our self out. We also went over Erik Erickson who was a psychoanalysis who created the stages of life. It was interesting because each stage has a meaning behind it. For our AP we were assigned to create a dream catcher to signify things that symbolize us. SR.DreamCatcher.2017 Overall, I believe this unit was very useful and helpful unit. It was very interesting learning about the many stages of life by Erik Erkison and the Freudian theory with psychosocial and psychosexual. Even though the class is called Who Am I? I stilled haven't figured out who I am exactly. I believe doubt and dream can take many turns and can tell a lot about ourselves and what we think is true. I believe this was a great way to end this unit.

My AP Project is about Homeless people who are living under viaducts and how they are being treated. Recently, the city has blocked them up and took all their materials such as, tents, blankets, carts, etc. The area I chose to study this topic is the Bucktown area. The reason why, I chose that area and this topic is because I usually pass by this area very often especially going to and from school. I have seen these viaducts gated up and most of the homeless people who have been living left. Another reason why, I chose the topic of homeless people is because I feel like not many people are paying attention to this issue when it is impacting lots of people especially in Chicago.  SR.
