How To Glorify God Through Art & Business

Welcome to our last unit and the last action project of our class, Endurance. As this is our last ever action project, we were asked to create a "survival guide" for the road that we want to take after we graduate and leave high school. I decided to carry out my mission of glorifying God in everything that I do. Including my personal passions. I want to utilize the gifts that God has given me to share His word. This includes the Christian clothing brand that I started called, Refined Apparel. Refined Apparel isn't just a clothing brand, but it is designed to also be a community! A community where, the focus is not just on the merchandise, but the people. Refined Apparel is a platform where we can switch the conversation to others and our loving God. This also includes my dreams of being an art director and using my career to work with others who share the same mission as I do and much more. As I close off this final action project of my senior year, I am happy yet so very sad to finish my time here at GCE. This was honestly probably one of my absolute favorite Humanities classes at GCE. GCE has allowed me to express myself in each and every action project, and I believe that this action project demonstrates that perfectly. I know that by attending GCE Lab School, my dreams of becoming an art director and continuing to build the brand and community, Refined Apparel will definitely come true. GCE has granted me the privilege to continue bringing my dreams into the real world. Thank you so much for tuning into my last Humanities action project. In this unit of stories, we have been talking about fables. In class, we have been talking about Aesop fable and Panchatantra fables. While reading these two different types of fables we were looking at the characteristics of the fables; such as personification, symbolism, and character development. We were discussing what exactly makes up a story, how do you develop a character, and how can we use a story to teach a lesson. For the action project, for this unit, we had to create our own fable. Over this unit, I have learned about the importance of them and how different they can be depending on where they come from and cultural traditions some people have that incorporate that into the fables.  I decided to make my fable about working hard and not letting anything get in the way the reason I chose this value is because I believe that if someone works hard enough they are capable of anything. Refined Apparel

 Welcome to my last independent study action project, here at GCE. This action project, it is a continuation of my last independent study from the last term , so go check that out for more background information. For this unit, I wanted to focus on actually creating and finalizing the designs as well as print out the merchandise. This independent study meant a lot to me because I actually brought what I was creating to life! I was finally able to see what Refined Apparel started to look like in person. Through this experience, it was new but a lot of fun. I had the opportunity to learn how to make clothing while on a time crunch. Even though this was a challenge, I'm excited to continue and launch the shop this summer. I didn't have this opportunity if it wasn't for GCE. Diddley Bowie

This is my Action Project for my class called, Light, Sound, and Time. In this class, we conducted a lot of activities to understand the connection between the three elements: Light, Sound, and Time. For this unit, we only focused on sound and how it travels to our ears along with, speed, pitch, wavelength, frequency, etc. For this unit, we had a field experience to The Chicago Hearing Society where we were able to speak to people who have trouble hearing or can't hear at all and use what we learned in our first class, empathy. It was an interesting way to get a different perspective on sound and how it affects someone's life. So for this action project, we put all the elements that we have learned throughout this unit and make a diddley bow. Similarly, to the pinhole cameras, we made to study light. For this action project, I found it super fun and also challenging at the same time. It was my first time making a diddley bow, which looks simple but also hard to make.
